Large Language Models have proven extraordinarily useful, and problematic. We don't know when our learners are using them or if they are getting accurate information. But AI is a fundamental teaching tool, we can't just ban our learners from using it. A new way is needed. The KnowledgeGraph learning platform is that new way.
We generate detailed graph databases out of original source material from lectures, videos, and other instructor-provided sources. These are ingested to create a reliable knowledge graph of all the course content. We then provide exercises for learners to generate their own content based on the course. By comparing the knowledge graph developed from learner-generated content, we can identify gaps in their knowledge and provide automated strategies to help them align their mental model of the course content with that from the instructors.
Interaction is the key feature of the platform - learners interacting with the AI, interacting with each other, and actively consuming course content. Evaluation happens as a side effect of interaction. Learning is monitored and optimized.
It is said that you learn best by teaching. This can be teaching your peers, but it can also be by teaching the ever patient AI instructor who gently corrects you until your mental model matches that of the course instructors.
Through interactive participation with the platform we induce the development of robust knowledge that can be applied to both practical and theoretical situations because we have ensured that the mental models that the learners use are solid. Like the best socratic tutor, the platform always teaches at the level for which the learner is ready.
